Leslie Kimbell
Leslie Kimbell (writer, actor, director) is based in Northeast Georgia. She gained the majority of her life experience and salty sense of humor from 18 years traveling the world as a burlesque headliner. Her Four Old Broads series is inspired by memories of her Nannie DeVries and Aunt Sissie Bumpus, who were always hysterical and sassy old broads. The original Four Old Broads play simultaneously won two festivals in 2017, at Centre Stage Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina and Theatre Victoria in Victoria, Texas. Broads also received an AEA Workshop in November 2017 at The Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City, produced by Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company. Leslie is thrilled and honored to have been mentored by the amazing Del Shores (Sordid Lives, Southern Baptist Sissies).
In October 2021, Leslie was presented with the Georgia Theatre Conference Hall of Fame Award for her dedication to theatre and play writing.
Leslie is the Theatre Partners Chair for the Del Shores Foundation.
As an actor, Leslie has appeared on television in Swamp Murders, Snapped, Murder Decoded and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. She also had supporting roles in the films Blue Lightning, Buried Cain and Some Kind of Christmas.
